American IRA's service may be impacted in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Please consult this page for ongoing status updates as the situation evolves.
Office Reopening and Operational Status
Dear Valued American IRA Client,
This is our latest update regarding Hurricane Helene's ongoing effects on American IRA dated Monday, October 7, 2024.
Office Status
Our physical office began to slowly bring up all operations at 9 a.m. today, Monday October 7. All operations will receive ongoing evaluations regarding utilities, infrastructure, staffing capabilities, etc.
Transaction Processing
We are processing all distributions, payments and purchases and sales of assets, etc. in the order in which they were received dating back to the office closure due to Hurricane Helene. Please be patient on new transactions submittals and allocate extra time for completion. We will not be approving any rush transactions at this time.
Any new account applications are being processed along with the transfer(s) from the existing custodian.
Current Conditions
Power and cell service is intermittent depending on areas. All the downtown and outlying areas are still without running water. As such, we do not have public restroom access. Please plan accordingly should you need to visit our office.
We thank you for the many care messages you have sent and we appreciate your continued fortitude as we work to get everything back online to make sure your needs are met.
Respectfully,
Your American IRA Team
Staff Safety and Operational Status
Dear Valued American IRA Client,
This is our third update regarding Hurricane Helene's ongoing effects on American IRA. The situation as of Wednesday October 2, 2024 at 11 AM is as follows.
Staff
We have wonderful news to share; all our staff have been accounted for! They may not have electricity, water or home communications, but they are alive and safe.
Office
Our physical office will remain closed through the remainder of the week ending October 4. All operations are being evaluated on a day-to-day basis regarding utilities, infrastructure, staffing capabilities, etc.
Impact
Federal and state resources are arriving in the area. Crews are working day and night to restore power. Cell service is intermittent at best.
Water is the biggest issue with many reports indicating it could be a month before it starts flowing again. Outer perimeter roads leading into Asheville and the majority of Western North Carolina are still considered closed.
Travel is only extended to rescue and humanitarian officials. Many of the roads within the affected areas are still unpassable or have been wiped out completely.
Death tolls continue to rise as the waters recede. We deliver these details so those of you outside of the viewing area or who have never visited WNC may understand the unprecedented destruction and the toll it has taken on the entire region affecting all aspects of daily life.
Business Operations Moving Forward
We are a business however, and as such, we are monitoring the return of all utilities that will allow our staff to service your needs. Though the office will not be able to open without water and travel to the office might still be impacted, we are confident as power and internet are returned to our staff's homes, they should be able to navigate their respective duties.
As previously mentioned, if you have a pending transaction or have submitted any recent paperwork to our office, you are encouraged to contact the respective parties to your investment to discuss potential delays and reschedule accordingly.
We will continue to assess and report daily updates of any restored business operation capability.
We appreciate your patience and prayers as all of us in the affected region continue to dig out, heal and carry on.
Respectfully,
Your American IRA Team
Situation Update and Timeline
Dear Valued American IRA Client,
As an update to our last notice regarding Hurricane Helene's effects on American IRA, please note our office will remain closed through Wednesday, October 2.
Throughout the city and Western North Carolina region, power has yet to be restored, cell and water service are still shut off, and all roads leading into Asheville and its connecting areas have been shut down via a DOT mandate. As such, this message is being transmitted remotely.
We have heard from almost all our staff. Like many others suffering through the devastation, they are without water and power and those who have ventured out for provisions have found themselves in lines wrapped around makeshift grocery stores and still without fuel due to shortages and outright closings. We hope the ones we have yet to make contact with are safe.
Though the pictures and videos shown on the news and social media are Hollywood movie caliber, they are very much the new reality for everyone in our area. We appreciate your prayers and patience as we work with local authorities and utilities to re-enter our personal and professional lives.
To that end, please know your investment interests are still our priority once we can get back to work. In the meantime, if you have a pending transaction or have submitted any recent paperwork to our office, you are encouraged to contact the respective parties to your investment to discuss potential delays and reschedule accordingly.
We will continue to assess the situation and keep you apprised of our re-opening so we can get back to work for you, our most respected clients.
Thank you again to all of you who have reached out to us during this most perilous time. We appreciate every one of you.
Respectfully,
Your American IRA Team
Possible Service Disruption
Dear Valued American IRA Client,
For anyone outside of our local viewing area, by now you have seen the apocalyptic devastation levied upon Western North Carolina from the effects of Hurricane Helene. As our Asheville, NC headquarters are located in the center of the destruction, this message is being transmitted remotely.
Currently, all roads, including major interstates, leading to our area have been closed in all directions. As such, crews are struggling to get in to restore power and deliver humanitarian assistance to the affected communities. Along with no power, there is no cell service and the population is adhering to an area-wide shelter in place mandate. We have heard from the majority of our staff and they are ok. The remaining folks we are hoping only have phones that have expired.
We deliver this message today as an indicator of our current situation and that we are monitoring the safety and ability of staff to return to work as soon as possible to service all of your needs.
We will keep you posted as we know more.
Respectfully,
Your American IRA Team
